VENUS IMPORTS HEAVY COTTON CLOTHING AND MATCHING ACCESSORIES FROM NEPAL

All of our heavy cotton clothing and accessories are made from 100% hand-loomed cotton. Each garment and accessory is individually designed; our design techniques include: embroidery, hand blocking, screening, painting and the incorporation of hand-knitted multi-colored sari silk or hand-loomed hemp. For these reasons, minor differences in thread thickness and tightness of weave may occur; color shades may also vary from one dye lot to the next. Most of our garments feature hand-worked bone or horn buttons; in most cases, button designs will match the garment motif. Because many of the operations that go into the creation of these products are hand-intensive, no two garments are exactly alike. We distinguish these subtle variations from occasional manufacturing defects, which we will gladly replace. Many of zour garments and bags are designed using an age-old Himalayan technique known as "blocking", which consists of a design carved into a block of wood, dipped in permanent black dye and applied carefully by hand.

SILK ACCESSORIES

We offer a variety of 100% sari silk bags and accessories. When saris are manufactured, the cuttings are collected, shredded and woven into a multi-colored yarn from which these products are knitted. Venus Imports supports a thriving cottage industry of Nepali knitters who create these products to our specifications.

INDIA GARMENTS

Our India line consists of a wide selection of colorful and stylish light weight dresses, skirts, tops, pants and coordinates made from cotton, cotton crepe rayon and chiffon (hand painted scarves) and embellished with a variety of decorative techniques that include sequins, embroidery, batiking and hand blocking.

BONE JEWELRY

Our bone jewelry consists of pins, bracelets, necklaces and earrings with sterling silver hooks. Some of our bracelets and chokers feature Tibetan designs. Many of our bone items are designed to match motifs featured on our heavy cotton garments. Our bone jewelry is made from water buffalo that have been processed for consumption.

STERLING SILVER JEWELRY

Venus Imports supports individual jewelers in Nepal who make our silver pendants and earrings by hand, incorporating jali work and top quality semi-precious stones. Like our bone jewelry, many of our silver items match or compliment our heavy cotton designs.
